Blue Golden Program
'Amazolou' Cats & Kittens
Since importing RW CH Insider Constantin the colour 'Blue-Golden' became my instant favourite !! It has a
wonderful blue and pinkie hue to it which is extremely pretty on the Selkirk Rex coat. I bred my own Blue
Golden Selkirk in 2008 albeit a variant but she was and still is one of the prettiest kittens I have ever bred.
Amazolou Evanescense now lives with good friend Anne Minshall and works along side her Selkirk breeding
program. Howevre this isn't about the Selkirk lines we are trying top progress, but the British Shorthair lines
and introduction in to GCCF.

I started looking in to the Blue Golden colour in the summer of  2008 with a couple of breeder friends of mine. We thought
Scouring the internet 'as you do' we located the wonderful Guther Moens of Sundust cats located in Belgium, only a short
drive across the channel. Gunther at the time had a lovely Blue Golden boy, Gusev van de Pronkse Schonen available and
after a few conversation ensuring Gunther that we would be wonderful parents it was agreed that Gusev could come to the
UK and be our foundation boy.

As well as Sundust, we also managed to locate another Blue Golden British Breeder in Somerset but who only registered
her cats with Fife, this was Judith Macarthur of Old Possums Cats. A wonderful breeder who entrusted a whole litter of
girls for breeding between Tracy, myself and Anne Minshall of Acozni cats who I also work closely with on the Selkirk Rex.

In April 2009 the three us drove over to the wonder Sundust cattery in Belgium and met Gunther Moens and his family
and collected 2 year old Gusev. All 683 miles.

With the arrival of Gusev in the UK this started off a shared breeding program between myself and the other catteries
involved, this has the full intention of getting the Blue Golden colour, plus any other Golden and dilute Tipped to
Championship status with the GCCF. All these differing colours of British are already recognised by most International Cat
registering bodies i.e. TICA, Fife and CFA.

I also brought in from Old Possums another boy, Rufus to widen the gene pool and
add a warmer colour to my current Golden breeding girls, Rufus is a gorgeous
Golden Shaded boy from continental lines with that lovely continental Golden
colouring. Tracy found out that she was pregnant and bowed out of cat breeding
all together so the mantle was left with me and Anne.

Stage one was to get the GCCF to recognise that there is such a colour in the British
Shorthair? No mean feat!! In the later part of 2009 the GCCF issued the colour 75a
to recognise the Blue Golden in any breeding lines. I started the process with gusto
but unfortunatly my Dad died in 2009 and that really took the wind out of my sails,
added to that we suddenly lost Gusev after just 3 litters and stopped any further
progression. However with sometime under my belt I decided that 2012 should be
the year of the Blue Golden so again contacted Gunther in late 2011 and asked to be
considered for another boy in the future. Gunther suggested a boy he currently had
Sundust Silver Max a gorgeous black tipped boy who's Dam is a Blue Tipped. Max
carries both Golden and dilute so a fantastic combination to put with Munchkin to
make Blue Goldens again in the future.

In February 2012 me and Anne again drove over to Belgium to collect Max via
eastern Germany as we were also collecting a lovely new Selkirk boy and now
we are waiting patiently for Max to grow and mature and mate with Munchkin
and my other Golden girls to gain some dilute Goldens.

Keep checking here for our progress!!!

Progress Reports to Follow:

April 2010:
Kittens born in three litters, one little of pure Blue Goldens and two Golden litters
carrying dilute. All the kittens were instantly reserved and were registered with
TICA and GCCF.

September 2010 Update:
We are now able to register our Blue Golden kittens with GCCF having been issued
75a breed number.

April 2011 Update.
Munchkin gave birth to her 2nd litter. Three gorgeous clear coated Blue Golden babies, two girls and a boy. All have gone
to breeding homes and will hopefully aid in the colours progression.

June 2012:
Muchkin had four kittens 28th May 2012, one Blue Golden boy and three tippy boys, we are just waiting to see whether the
tippies are black or blue tipped.

July 2012:
Pleased to announce we have two Blue Tipped boys and a black tipped boy in Munchkin's litter as well as the lovely Blue
Golden boy. The Blue Golden Amazolou Oomplaumpa went to live as a stud boy with Lisa Burnell.

September 2013:
Muchkin had her litter in the summer, but sadly no Blue Goldens in sight, she had a Blue Tipped female, Black Tipped
Female, a Black Tipped Male and a Golden Male, all currently heading for pet homes.
Her sister, Rosie, however gave birth to a lovely litter of 5 on 19th September, 3 Blue Golden boys, a Golden girl and a
Black Tipped boy.

October 2013:
Myself and fellow Blue Golden breeder Lisa Burnell attended the British Shorthaired Breed Advisory Seminar to present
the Blue Goldens for progression, there were 40 plus judges and exhibitors to view the cats and give their opinions on why
the should be progressed and what else needs to be done now to move it forward. It was all extremely positive and the cats
who were on exhibition loved the attention.  Amazolou Oompalumpa. Burleaway Will-i-am. Burleaway Golden Lumina
